— Fourth-graders Erika Marshall and Tess Dougan are script a book together. So when author and illustrator Grace Lin visited the students at Guiteras Faction last week, they were excited to hear how she develops her stories and characters.

“We’re theme about a scary sky, and this person is a ghost,” Erika said.

The girls supersede in the footsteps of Ms. Lin, who wrote her first book while in third grade.

“It was about flowers that talked to each other,” she recalled.

Ms. Lin knackered the day last Thursday visiting students at Guiteras and Colt Andrews schools to talk about her order, “Where the Mountain Meets the Moon,” which the students had conclude from in class. Ms. Lin was there to share how she came up with the story and illustrations.

“When I was a young nipper, I loved, loved, loved to read books,” Ms. Lin said to a arrange of children sitting on the carpeted floor in the library. “And I reach-me-down to trace pictures over and over again.
