Lets stop out the year with a discussion of one of the Islands newest and arguably most visibly best-selling eateries: Z-Two.
What exactly is a Z-Two?
Well, its what follows a Z-One, the predecessor and busy sister restaurant in Bulls Crescendo. Yet the Charleston location that opened over the summer hyperbolizes Z-Ones way, blowing out dining elements that appeal to many borough patrons: Big portions, competitively priced meals, dearest-friendly dining and, basically, a lot going on under one roof.
Indeed, Two is all of One — magnified.
The eatery plays on a diner concept — breakfast, lunch and dinner nearby 24-hours a day — but makes an impression more along the lines of a splashy Cheesecake Works, replete with linen napkins.
Z-Two appeals to a late-night lounge coterie with a well-stocked bar and kitchen thats constantly in motion. Stop for a cup of coffee in a bakery compass off to the side. Pick up a dessert baked on the premises — Napoleon coagulate, apples baked in puff pastry, individual chocolate mousse-Oreo crusted cheesecakes, fruit pies, etc. Work a party in one of the restaurants alcoves. Watch a game one weekend afternoon over a lox and bagel plate for two in a booth that steps up from the main dining area. Dwell at Timely Hour at the bar Monday through Friday from 3 to 6:30 p.m., where drafts are $2 and $3, smaller portions on apps are $4.99 and other lap up deals make for a cheap date.
