Questions and Answers

What books do you recommend for extending my high-school knowledge of physics/mathematics/computing?

Question: Hello, I'm almost finished school and hilarious some knowledge (schools here are really bad) on physics, mathematics and computing. I hope to further expand my knowledge. Are there any books with theory, exercises or two who can help me? Thank you!

Answer: For physics, you can try hard cover

http://bcs.wiley.com/he-bcs/Books?action = index & Itemid = 0471216437 & itemType = BKS & eid = 2037 bcsId

and it is a very fair book for physics after school.

More Cardinal Number Questions...Set Theory...I Need More Help?

Question: People here are definitely helpful, so here I am once again seeking more Set Theory help...(I'll get the hang of this conspectus mathematics)

1. Prove that the set of positive real numbers has cardinal tot up c. (Hint: Try the map of x→e^x.)

2.Prove that the open unit interval (the set of all veritable x with 0 < x

Answer: You understand that 1 & 2 have cardinality at most c, as they are subsets of the real numbers. If you can show for every genuine number, there is exactly one corresponding number in the other set, you can show that the cardinality is at least c, so it has to be bang on c. (hint, show that for x1!=x2, e^x1 != e^x2

for 3, the only

If one expects a detailed analysis in basic mathematics, this can affect it - "Mathematics for the Million" by Lancelot Hogben Thomas should be your first choice. Nor does this volume have much to say about the expansion recorded in mathematics - why it is not a substitute for Morris Kline "Mathematics for non-mathematicians (who teaches the fundamental concepts of mathematics same time, helped by exercises).

This song was meant to convey, I cherish the idea, a recovery which is as rigorous arguments."If this can be said to have enlisted a report, is that you should learn about the abstract, because in doing so, many difficulties evaporate quite contemplative, wrote in the report Gowers Begin. And sometimes it seems as if you read a book written by a philosopher. For the event, P. 80-81 discusses "What is the call to focus on the geometry of higher dimension? (From Gowers performance is not a philosopher, but a very pre-eminent mathematician.)

By the way, here is something I strains. Gowers said: "[i] t can not be [ie intoxication dimensions, More than three] set hidden in creation, but ...." But I feel gap is larger than what superstring theory is. Then Martin Rees, Alan Guth, Andrei Linde and powerful we are now there are countless universes housing ours, each one appealing legions different sizes - some younger than three, others much more! place greater dimension can not be as abstract as Gowers thinks....
